Hooray! Esther Feldman’s amazing project is launching once again in Israel!
📺 “Cartoons with a Purpose”
It is a true “emotional gym” and a safe space where children aged 4–8 develop their emotional intelligence (EQ) through high-quality animation, the fairy tales of Vladimir Suteev, and original interactive games.
Today, our children find themselves literally at the center of a “tornado”—events whiz by at breakneck speed, news is often frightening, and for many, there is the added stress of air-raid sirens, displacement from home, and the constant anxiety of the adults around them.
Add to this mix the ever-shifting landscape of technology: fast-paced games, neon-saturated cartoons, and an endless stream of content...
Even an adult brain struggles to keep emotions in check.
For a child, it is hundreds of times harder, as they are still a complete “blank slate”—even to themselves.
“Don’t cry!” “Don’t be scared!” “Don’t get angry!”—these commands simply don’t work; emotions do not vanish on cue. They merely retreat and hide deep inside.
In the “Cartoons with a Purpose” project, we help children understand that every emotion possesses its own unique power, and that it is absolutely normal to feel them all.
Children learn to:
✅ Recognize their own emotions amidst a whirlwind of sensations.
✅ Name their feelings: distinguishing between “boiling” anger, sadness, or simple disappointment.
✅ Manage their emotions through play: understanding how to release tension, pausing before acting on the urge to bite or hit, turning fears into something funny, tuning into their bodies, and practicing mindful breathing.
✅ Communicate and empathize: overcoming the fear of meeting new people, articulating their thoughts, and becoming more attuned to the feelings of those around them.
✅ Think critically: spotting subtle nuances—for instance, noticing that when a character falls down, they aren’t necessarily “angry,” but simply “sad.”
✅ Discover keys to self-regulation: using story discussions as a healthy, constructive way to process feelings of anger, fear, or sadness. The "Cartoons with a Purpose" project is not just "yet another screen." It is a space where a child learns to understand what they are *truly* feeling.
Through classic Soviet animation and fairy tales, these cartoons serve as a bridge—enabling children to communicate more confidently, ask questions, and articulate their thoughts.
Ester Feldman (Nadia Ester Feldman) is the project's creator. She is a certified specialist in emotional intelligence development, a parenting consultant (specifically for families with children with ADHD), a mindfulness trainer, an ICF-certified coach, a volunteer for the IRIS project, a therapist specializing in women's issues using the Symboldrama method, and a member of the All-Israel Association of Parenting Consultants. She is also the creator of magnetic cards designed to foster emotional intelligence in children aged 4 to 10, the founder of the "Emotions with Ester"—a supportive chat community for moms—and a facilitator of parenting workshops and seminars held in various cities.
The project's partner is Liliya-Rahel Postolova—a director, event producer, specialist in non-formal education and parent-child relations, and a crisis management expert. She is the author of four educational grant projects focused on Jewish culture, as well as children's audio plays, creative laboratories, and literary and arts festivals. She has served as a curriculum developer and director of cultural centers, and is the founder of @Communiteen (a project for teenagers) and @TheMahazemer Theatre & Academy (a musical theater).
