Yesterday we visited the museum
🏛️Madatek -
at an exhibition dedicated to the ideas of the Renaissance master
Leonardo da Vinci: Ahead of time.
Leonardo is a genius who tamed various levers, gears, the element of water, and revealed the secrets of perspective! This was written on the poster, and 2 halls and part of the courtyard in the museum were dedicated to the genius.
📌Halls 1 and 2 are a real kingdom of mechanics.
There are a lot of different mechanisms.
But, most of the mechanisms presented at the exhibition are actually solid levers, gears and ball bearings.
Due to the same type of mechanisms, turning the knobs soon gets boring.
I remember that in a past life, we were at several exhibitions in different countries dedicated to Leonardo, and there children could become part of the mechanism. This was more interesting. Because by changing, for example, the load, it was possible to evaluate the capabilities of the lift; or stand inside the sphere and check for yourself whether the “Vitruvian Man” principle works.
And at this exhibition there was a model of Leonardo’s drum, but it was impossible to check how it really works. // Tickets are not cheap at all: 89 shekels per adult.🤔
A really interesting interactive feature in both rooms were the light tables. Anyone could try to replicate Leonardo's sketches.
But there was no, for example, perspectograph, with the help of which everyone could try to draw a landscape in linear perspective, and this is no longer just tracing a picture.
Hall 3 💦 - more precisely, the exhibition in the courtyard was much more interactive, but already quite shabby. And it was dedicated to hydrodynamics - the force of water movement.
Here you can understand the operation of gateways and channels; Start the water screw yourself // an improved Archimedes screw with which you can lift water up without a pump.
There is an open propeller and you can see how the water rises, and there are several “hidden” propellers, but they have the same principle.
What caught my attention was a musical instrument, also powered by a screw that raises water - and if you have enough strength and patience, you can even get a melody.
The exhibition in the courtyard is completely interactive.
Overall it was interesting.
And here, I leave useful information about the museum and the exhibition.

But I highly recommend coming to the exhibition prepared, then it will be really more interesting and you will have conscious memories of Leonardo and his ideas, mechanisms, inventions and paintings.
At the Attic in Karmiel I have a course for children from 6 years old, where we get acquainted with the multifaceted work of the great master of the Renaissance.
